END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT (EULA)

1. AGREEMENT TO TERMS
This End User License Agreement ("Agreement") is a legal agreement between you ("User" or "you") and Revolt.Inc ("Publisher", "we", "us", or "our"), operating from Italy, for the use of MediaboxMC software application ("App", "Software").
By installing, copying, or otherwise using the Software, you agree to be bound by the terms of this Agreement. If you do not agree to the terms of this Agreement, do not install or use the Software.
For purchases made through the Microsoft Store, the Microsoft Store Terms of Sale also apply.
2. LICENSE GRANT
2.1 Free Version
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the free version of MediaboxMC on any number of Windows devices that you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use.
The free version includes advertising and provides access to a subset of features as described on our website and within the App.
2.2 Premium Version
Upon purchase of the Premium upgrade, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use all features of MediaboxMC on any number of Windows devices that you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use.
The Premium upgrade is a one-time purchase that grants you lifetime access to all current and future Premium features for the version major release purchased (e.g., version 1.x). Future major version upgrades (e.g., version 2.0) may require a separate purchase.
2.3 Scope
This license does not grant you any rights to:
- Sublicense, sell, rent, lease, or distribute the Software
- Use the Software for commercial purposes without prior written consent
- Modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of the Software
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code
- Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices, labels, or marks
- Use the Software in any manner that violates applicable laws or regulations
2.4 Beta and Pre-Release Versions
During the beta/pre-release phase, MediaboxMC is provided free of charge with all features unlocked and no advertising. This is a temporary arrangement for testing and feedback purposes.
Upon the first official stable release (version 1.0), the Software will transition to the following model:
- Free Version: Available at no cost, supported by advertising, with access to a subset of features
- Premium Version: Available as a one-time purchase, with all features unlocked and no advertising
If you are using a beta/pre-release version, your transition to the stable release will not automatically enroll you in the Premium version. You will need to separately purchase the Premium upgrade if desired.
Beta versions may contain bugs, incomplete features, and are not guaranteed to be stable. Beta versions are provided "as is" without any warranty.
3. DESCRIPTION OF THE SOFTWARE
MediaboxMC is a media center application for Windows that allows you to:
- Organize and browse your personal video library (movies and TV series)
- Retrieve metadata and artwork from The Movie Database (TMDB) using your own API key
- Play video files using the integrated MPV player
- Manage playlists, watch history, and subtitles
- Access video files stored locally or on network shares (SMB)
The Software does not provide, host, stream, or distribute any media content. You are solely responsible for ensuring that you have the legal right to access and play any media files in your library.
4. THIRD-PARTY COMPONENTS
The Software incorporates open source and third-party components. A complete list of these components and their respective licenses is provided in the "Third-Party Notices" file included with the Software and accessible from Settings > About > Open Source Licenses.
4.1 MPV Player
The Software uses MPV (https://mpv.io) as an external video player process. MPV is distributed under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) version 2.1 or later. MPV is launched as a separate process and communicates with MediaboxMC via IPC (named pipes). The MPV binary is downloaded separately at first launch and is not embedded in the MediaboxMC binary.
You have the right to replace the MPV binary with any compatible version. The source code for MPV is available at https://github.com/mpv-player/mpv.
4.2 TMDB API
The Software uses The Movie Database (TMDB) API to retrieve metadata. You must provide your own TMDB API key. Your use of the TMDB API is subject to TMDB's own Terms of Use (https://www.themoviedb.org/terms-of-use). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
5. DATA COLLECTION AND PRIVACY
5.1 Local Data
All user data (library information, watch history, preferences, and configurations) is stored exclusively on your local device in the application's data folder (%LOCALAPPDATA%\MediaboxMC\). We do not have access to this data.
5.2 Anonymous Telemetry
The Software collects anonymous crash reports and usage analytics via Microsoft AppCenter. This data includes:
- Crash reports (stack traces, app version, OS version, device type)
- Anonymous usage metrics (features used, session frequency)
- A generic client identifier (UUID) that cannot be linked to your identity
No personal data, IP addresses, or connection details are collected or stored.
You may opt out of telemetry at any time through Settings > Privacy.
5.3 Advertising (Free Version)
The free version of the Software displays advertisements. The advertising SDK may collect certain data as described in our Privacy Policy. You will be asked for your consent regarding personalized advertising at first launch.

6. ADVERTISING (FREE VERSION)
The free version of MediaboxMC displays advertisements to support continued development.
- Advertisements are clearly distinguishable from app content
- The primary purpose of the App is media center functionality, not advertising
- You may remove advertisements by purchasing the Premium upgrade
- You can manage your advertising preferences in Settings > Privacy
7. PREMIUM PURCHASE
7.1 Pricing
The Premium upgrade is available as a one-time purchase. The price is displayed in the App and/or on the Microsoft Store / our website before purchase. All prices for EU consumers include applicable VAT.
7.2 Payment
Purchases made through the Microsoft Store are processed by Microsoft according to the Microsoft Store Terms of Sale. Purchases made through our website are processed by our payment provider.
7.3 Right of Withdrawal (EU Consumers)
If you are a consumer in the European Union, you have the right to withdraw from the purchase within 14 days without giving any reason, in accordance with EU Directive 2011/83/EU.
However, by proceeding with the download/activation of the Premium upgrade and expressly consenting to the immediate performance of the digital content, you acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once the digital content has been fully delivered/activated.
7.4 Refunds
- Microsoft Store purchases: Refund requests are handled by Microsoft in accordance with their refund policy.
- Website purchases: You may request a refund within 14 days of purchase by contacting us at [email protected]. Refunds are processed to the original payment method.
8. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
The Software, including its design, code, graphics, logos, and documentation, is the intellectual property of Revolt.Inc and is protected by copyright laws and international treaties.
All trademarks, service marks, and trade names used in the Software are the property of their respective owners. "TMDB" and the TMDB logo are trademarks of The Movie Database. "MPV" is a trademark of the MPV project.
9. DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTIES
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that:
- The Software will meet your requirements
- The Software will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free
- The results obtained from the Software will be accurate or reliable
- Any errors in the Software will be corrected
10. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL REVOLT.INC BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM:
- Your use or inability to use the Software
- Any unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
- Any third-party content or services accessed through the Software
- Any other matter relating to the Software
This limitation does not apply to mandatory consumer protection rights under applicable law, including Italian Consumer Code (D.Lgs. 206/2005) and EU consumer protection directives.
11. USER RESPONSIBILITIES
You are solely responsible for:
- Ensuring you have the legal right to access and play media files in your library
- Obtaining and maintaining a valid TMDB API key in compliance with TMDB's Terms of Use
- Complying with all applicable laws regarding the content you access through the Software
- Maintaining backups of your data
The Software does not provide, host, stream, or facilitate access to copyrighted content. It is a tool for organizing and playing media files that you already legally possess.
12. UPDATES AND MODIFICATIONS
12.1 Software Updates
We may release updates to the Software from time to time. Updates may be delivered automatically through the Microsoft Store or manually through our website.
12.2 Modifications to this Agreement
We reserve the right to modify this Agreement at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other reasonable means. Your continued use of the Software after such modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Agreement.
If you do not agree to the modified terms, you must stop using the Software.
13. TERMINATION
13.1 By You
You may terminate this Agreement at any time by uninstalling the Software and deleting all copies.
13.2 By Us
We may terminate this Agreement immediately if you breach any of its terms. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the Software and delete all copies.
13.3 Survival
Sections 8 (Intellectual Property), 9 (Disclaimer), 10 (Limitation of Liability), and 14 (Governing Law) shall survive termination.
14. GOVERNING LAW AND JURISDICTION
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Italy, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any disputes arising from or relating to this Agreement shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Italy.
For EU consumers: Nothing in this Agreement affects your statutory rights under mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence. You may also bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.
15. SEVERABILITY
If any provision of this Agreement is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that this Agreement shall otherwise remain in full force and effect.
16. ENTIRE AGREEMENT
This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and Revolt.Inc regarding the Software and supersedes all prior agreements and understandings.
